Day 4 Sagres
Today we traveled by car to Sagres which was about a 30 minute drive. This is the one city that was dropped from our cruise itinerary so we decided to check it out. We went to the old fort that protected southern Portugal from being invaded. It was very interesting however the wind was blowing and it was a little chilly. After that we drove to a coastal town called Odeceixe to hang out on the beach. However by the time we got there it was pretty windy and a bit overcast so we decided to have lunch instead. We had burgers and some wine and had a great time talking to the bartender as he was teaching us how to speak Portuguese. After lunch we decided to pass on the beach and headed home. On the way home we ran into a police checkpoint and they had us pull over for a vehicle safety check. It kind of freaked Donna and Janice out a little bit but after showing all the documentation, we continued on. Then we stopped at the grocery store and got resupplied with some food but most importantly we restocked on wine. We are now back at the house and getting ready for snacks, wine, and a board game. Here are some of the pics from today.
